- The WA legislation regarding nominations for the committee states that a blank Ballot paper is issued to owners/proxies and that 7 names (for my complex) are required to written down.
- At the meeting, the nominees names are written in a list on a white board for the owners to view. It has been stated by the Strata Manager that this is the procedure as most owners are too old to remember the names.
Is this process reasonable as it appears to give an advantage to the existing Committee members
as the top of the list starts with the ChairpersonS name.
This is also a common procedure in NSW.
If the incumbent committee members are being nominated for re-election, then there’s no reason their name should not appear on the whiteboard, so people know it and can write it down correctly.
As for the order of names, perhaps you could suggest to the strata manager that the names be listed in alphabetical order, for absolute fairness.
