Installation of CCTV By-Law (Member Only)

This special by-law permits the owners corporation to install and operate a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system on the common property in the locations identified on an annexed plan. It establishes clear rules around the ownership, repair, and maintenance of the CCTV system, which is funded and managed by the owners corporation.

The by-law outlines:

• Who may access CCTV equipment and footage
• How lot owners and their authorised representatives can view footage under section 182 of the Strata Schemes Management Act 2015
• A procedure for requesting and reviewing footage, including restrictions on copying footage without written approval
• How long footage will be retained before being deleted (default placeholder provided for customisation)
• The owners corporation’s obligations if compelled by law to provide footage (e.g. police requests)

This by-law balances security management with privacy protections and ensures the CCTV system operates within the legal framework of NSW strata law.
