NSW strata buildings can now legally make a by-law prohibiting short term letting in their building, where the lot being let is NOT the host’s principal place of residence. Here’s the guidance I provided to attendees of last week’s webinar.

    1. Hi Natalie, under NSW strata law, a by-law can prevent a person from short term letting if the property they are letting is not their principal place of residence. A special resolution is required to make a by-law. A special resolution is achieved if no more than 25% of the unit entitlement, present and voting at a general meeting, votes against the motion.
