  1. I have been listening to your podcasts since day 1 and am very appreciative of the easy listening format and quality of information being discussed. The podcasts give us confidence that we are on the right track in terms of our service provision and focus on compliance. We also incorporate ideas originating from the podcasts into our everyday practices. On another issue, we noticed last week that section 85 of the SSMA 1996 (NSW) and section 11 of the SSMR 2010 have been repealed. We have been diligent in ensuring that strata schemes have the property valued for insurance purposes at least every five years. Can you advise when these sections of the legislation were repealed? What recommendations do you have in regards to our approach to strata schemes in ensuring the property is adequately insured in the absence of this section of the legislation? We have checked the SSMA 2015 (NSW) and it seems to be silent on this issue. Perhaps insurance could be a podcast topic.

    1. Hi Heather, thank you so much for your comment. I am really happy you and your team are enjoying the content of the podcast. As for s 85 of the SSMA 96, I will cover that off in an episode in the very near future, including directly answering your questions. Thank you for the suggestion. I do have an episode coming up with Leonie Milonas of Strata Community Insurance (WA) where we talk generally about strata insurance policies, so keep an ear out for that one.

  3. I’m loving the podcast and really appreciate your work in making it available – thank you!

I’m unclear after re-listening to this episode whether all meeting attendees or just a majority need to consent to (or not object to) audio recording of the meeting? As Chair of our EC for the last three years and now moving over to Secretary (as I was primarily doing that work), I’ve always asked consent to record before meetings to facilitate prep of minutes.

I think having a motion so consent is minuted is a great idea – can you suggest a wording for such a motion? Should it reference the relevant Act? It would presumably make sense to have it be the first item on the agenda.

I’m particularly interested in validly recording our next ECM, but I suspect I may not get a unanimous vote to record it! (Ah, politics!)

I have other questions and ideas for episodes, but I’ll leave it at that for now 🙂

    1. Hi Sean, thanks for your comment and I will broadcast my advice on this in a future episode – within the next two weeks. No doubt others have the same question. I’d love to hear your other questions and ideas for episodes too! Thanks for listening.

      1. Thanks, Amanda,

I have until 24 September to finalise the notices 🙂 Although I am keen for the answers!

As for other topics and questions, I’m finding it hard to focus as I’m a little busy right now dealing with other issues related to the scheme and also trying to negotiate a path forward on a troublesome DA condition from our local Council – the fun never stops! 🙂

        Sean
