  1. The owner above me has removed the ceiling. Put wooden floor boards in creating a wooden church effect. He had no approval for anything.

  2. Our Strata Committee has been told by the Strata Manager that a waterproofing of a bathroom in a major renovation is not required to comply with the D&BPAct as it is an Exempt Development. Is this correct?

    2. Hello Peter, yes, this is correct. However, there are many issues that could knock it out of exempt, for example:

      Exempt development
      Subdivision 26 Minor building alterations (internal)
      (1) The standards specified for that development are that the development must—
      (b) not include a change to the configuration of a room, whether by removal of an existing wall, partition or other means, and
