  1. Reena makes very valid points regarding the time-wasting potential (indeed actuality…) of disorganised people in Strataland. How would the SC members, who airily demand – often repeatedly if not habitually – that SMs compensate for their own lack of basic business skills or disciplines, feel were ‘the boot on the other foot’?

Would they be happy if their surgeon “lost” the vital medical paperwork just before an operation? Or their A380 pilots carelessly mixed-up flight plans/desitinations in the crew rooms? Or even if their morning coffee order needs three repetitions to the barista?

An issue like this really reinforces my mantra of the need for “Education, education, education” as one arrow in the sheaf of weaponry needed to improve everyday strata practices.

It’ll be interesting to see how NSW OFT Taskforce approaches the SC education they propose. If it’s not being done in consultation with the Real World (eg SMs, SCMs etc), it may belly-flop. The mediocre, the lazy, the incompetent, and the chronically disorganised will always be with us, no matter what the pursuit: solving related challenges in SCs will need some pretty nifty thinking, in my view.
